Mumbai: Maharashtra is leading the way for Global Capability Centers due to the three factors of talent, infrastructure and business-friendly environment in Maharashtra. The new GCC policy announced this year will promote high-value, skill-based job creation in the state, the Chief Minister said Devendra Fadnavis said today.

Brookfield Company in Mumbai (Mumbai) has announced the construction of a mega project with 20 lakh sq. ft. of leasehold construction on 6 acres of land in Powai. Under this, the largest Global Capability Center (GCC) of a multinational bank in Asia will be established. The agreement is for a period of 20 years. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that due to these big projects, global confidence has been strengthened in Maharashtra’s progress. Besides meeting the future needs of international companies, the state government is keen to provide a stable and enabling environment.

The project is expected to be completed by 2029 and is expected to invest more than $1 billion and create more than 30,000 jobs. The project is led by Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and Brookfield with partner B. S. Chief Minister Fadnavis said that it will be implemented with the cooperation of Sharma.

The Chief Minister said that this development underlines the growing confidence of global companies in Maharashtra’s investor-friendly environment. The project aims to use 100 percent green energy and the building will be constructed according to the best sustainable construction standards in the market. This will further strengthen Mumbai’s position as a global capability center hub.

In 2024, Brookfield built a ‘build-to-suit’ tower in Pune for a major financial services company. In the same year, a MoU was signed with the MMRDA for an investment of 12 billion dollars. In June 2025, the company has purchased 2.1 acres of land in the Bandra-Kurla complex. Ankur Gupta, Senior Investment Officer, Brookfield said, “We are building this iconic project that will set a new benchmark in office development across the Asian continent. Investments in Mumbai now exceed $4 billion. Brookfield is committed to creating high-quality, sustainable and modern workplaces.”
