The holiday island of Bali in Indonesia has outshone eight competitors, including the Maldives, to be named the World’s Most Romantic Destination at this year’s World Travel Awards.
This marks the first time Bali has received this honor. In previous years, the title was held by other renowned destinations such as Seychelles, Mauritius, and the Maldives.
Bali is celebrated for its natural landscapes, picturesque beaches, traditional culture, rich history, and ancient temples, making it a favorite among travelers worldwide.
The island has witnessed a strong rebound in tourism following the Covid pandemic.
Last year, it welcomed 15.5 million visitors, nearing its pre-pandemic numbers from 2019. In the first seven months of this year alone, Bali recorded 3.89 million arrivals, an increase from 2.9 million during the same period last year.
In October, Bali was recognized as the most beautiful island in Asia by readers of the American magazine Condé Nast Traveler in its Readers’ Choice Awards.
The World Travel Awards, established in 1993, celebrate excellence in the travel and tourism industry and are referred to as the “Oscars of the travel industry.”
Winners are determined through votes cast by travel professionals and the public.
