Phu Quoc, voted Asia’s most beautiful island by readers of Condé Nast Traveler, received 82,000 foreign tourists during the Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day and Reunification Day-Labor Day holidays, up 90% year-on-year.

The Vietnam’s largest island in the southern province of An Giang welcomed a total of 309,600 tourists during the holidays that spanned seven days (April 25-27 and April 30-May 3), a 34% increase, according to a report from An Giang Province’s Department of Tourism.

Phu Quoc has become a bright spot of Vietnam’s tourism sector.

The island received over one million international arrivals in the first four months of 2026, up 61.5% year-on-year and reaching nearly half of its annual target. It eyes 2 million foreigners this year.

In addition to Phu Quoc, other coastal destinations across Vietnam including Da Nang, Thanh Hoa, Nha Trang and Quang Ninh, home to the world-famous Ha Long Bay, also saw a surge in tourists during the recent holidays, as travelers sought relief from the early summer heatwave.

Average hotel occupancy nationwide reached 65-70%, while key seaside destinations reported rates exceeding 90%.
