Asim Munir made CDF of Pakistan, also got command of nuclear weapons

New Delhi, 5 December. The role of the chief of defense forces was created under the 27th amendment to the Constitution last month aimed at centralizing military command in Pakistan. In this sequence, the post of Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) was abolished and the post of Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) was created. Former ISI chief and Army chief Asim Munir has been appointed CDF.

Now he has become the commander of all three armies (Army, Air, Navy). Along with this, Munir has also got the responsibility of Chief of Army Staff (COAS). CDF is powerful military post in Pakistan. Surprisingly, with this amendment, Munir’s powers increased. However, the powers of the Supreme Court have been reduced. Under this, Asim Munir will now be able to use these powers even after completing his tenure. He will neither retire, nor will this post be taken from him and given to someone else. It was written on the Pakistani President’s Apart from this, the command of nuclear weapons will also be with Munir.

Actually, the National Command Authority earlier used to monitor and control nuclear weapons and missile systems. It was presided over by the Prime Minister of Pakistan. For this reason Munir is considered the most powerful military officer of the country. Apart from this, the Pakistani President has decided to extend the service of Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu by two years. It will be implemented from March 19, 2026.

Prominent Pakistani politician Asif Ali Zardari congratulated both the Pakistan Armed Forces officers. Asim Munir is the first military officer in the history of Pakistan to hold the five-star rank of Field Marshal and hold the command of COAS and CDF simultaneously. He is the second military officer in the country’s history to hold the Field Marshal title after General Ayub Khan. Ayub Khan led Pakistan during the 1965 war with India.
