Assam Election: Congress released the fifth list of candidates, bet on these 7 veterans; see list
Assam Assembly Elections 2026: Congress Party has released the fifth list of candidates for Assam Assembly elections. In this list, names of MLA candidates for 7 assembly seats have been announced. The names of Joseph Hasda from Gossaigaon, Birkang Boro from Dotma and Rajat Kanti Saha from Bijni assembly constituency are included in this list.
Apart from this, Anchula Gwara Daimary from Bhergaon, Narayan Adhikari from Majbat, Nirmal Langthasa from Haflong and Amar Chand Jain from Khaitigorah have been made candidates.
On how many seats will Congress contest elections?
The Congress party has so far released five lists of candidates for the 126-seat Assam Assembly. Among these, names of 42 candidates appeared in the first list, 23 in the second, 22 in the third and 7 in the fourth. So far, the Congress party has declared the names of more than 100 candidates for the assembly elections. Although the party will not contest the entire 126 seats, it will leave some seats for its allies.
Direct contest between Congress and BJP
The main contest for the 126-seat Assam Assembly is between the Congress party and the ruling BJP and NDA alliance. Presently Himanta Vishwa Sarma is the Chief Minister here. The Election Commission has announced to hold voting here on 9th April. After this, the results of the assembly elections will be declared on May 4.

Responsibility has been handed over to big leaders
The last date for nomination is March 23. To win in the state, Congress has fielded leaders like Priyanka Gandhi, Imran Masood, Madhusudan Mistry and Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. In the elections of five states, Congress has faced the biggest setback so far in Assam. Party’s MP from Nagaon Pradyut Bordoloi And former state president Bhupen Bora has shocked Congress by joining BJP.
