Assam Assembly polls: AICC announces first list of 42 candidates – Read
Amid the ongoing alliance talks ahead of a high-stakes battle in the Assam Assembly elections, the central election committee of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) has released its first list of 42 candidates for the upcoming polls.
According to a media statement issued by AICC general secretary, K.C Venugopal on Tuesday evening, Assam PCC president, Gaurav Gogoi has been selected as the party candidate from Jorhat constituency; former Assam PCC chief Ripun Bora has been nominated from Barchalla, while Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Debabrata Saikia will contest from the Nazira seat.
Other candidates in the list include Abdus Sobahan Ali Sarkar (Gauripur); Markline Marak (Goalpara West-ST); Girish Baruah (Bongaigaon); Mahananda Sarkar (Barpeta-SC); Ramen Singh Rabha (Boko-Chaygaon-ST); Nandita Das (Hajo-Sualkuchi-SC); Satyabrat Kalita (Kamalpur); Mira Borthakur Goswami (Dispur); Ashok Kumar Sarma (Nalbari); Ratul Patuwary (Tihu); Binanda Kumar Saikia (Sipajhar); Nurul Huda (Appearance); Tanzil Hussain (Samaguri); Utpal Bania (Raha-SC); Swapan Kar (Lumding), Narayan Bhuyan (Bihpuria), Raj Kumar Medak (Jonai-ST), Durga Bhumij (Doomdooma); Prateek Bordoloi (Margherita); Pranjal Ghatowar (Chabua-Lahowal); Dhruba Gogoi (Durajan); Planetary Phukan (Naharkatia); Utpal Gogoi (Voice); Ajoy Kumar Gogoi (Agriculture); Indraneel Pegu (Majuli-ST); Pallabi Shaikia Gogoi (Teok); Shaikia’s Tower (Golaghat); Raton Engty (Bocajan-ST); Augustine Enghee (Rongkhang-ST).
