The Assam Cricket Association Stadium, also called Barsapara Cricket Stadium, is in Guwahati, Assam. It is now officially named Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Cricket Stadium.
It is the home ground of the Assam cricket team and is run by the Assam Cricket Association. The stadium can hold about 46,000 people, and it can be expanded to around 55,000, making it one of the biggest cricket stadiums in India.
It was opened on 10 October 2017 by former Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal. It became India’s 49th international cricket venue. The first international match here was a T20I between India and Australia in 2017, which Australia won.
It also hosted IPL matches for the first time in 2023, when Rajasthan Royals played two home games there. It is the largest sports stadium in North-East India and is used for both domestic and international matches.

It can hold over 40,000 fans and has modern facilities with multiple pitches in the main square and extra practice wickets. Construction started in 2006, and the first match here was a women’s domestic game in 2012. It became a first-class venue in the 2013–14 Ranji Trophy season.
It made its international debut in 2017 with a T20I between India and Australia. India later played ODIs here too, including a win against West Indies in 2018. The ground has also seen centuries by Virat Kohli.
In IPL, Rajasthan Royals started using it as a second home venue in 2023. They continued hosting matches here in 2026 as well. This has become an important ground for cricket in the region.
The stadium is about an hour from Guwahati airport. It is also accessible from the railway station by road. It has basic spectator facilities like covered seating, food areas, and washrooms.
