Assam Elections 2026: PM Modi said in Barpeta – Nari Shakti Vandan Bill will be amended to increase women’s participation

Barpeta, 6 April. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a huge public meeting in Barpeta on Monday in the last phase of Assam Assembly elections. In the meeting he emphasized on the achievements of BJP and the party’s strategy in the upcoming assembly elections. Prime Minister Modi said that whatever BJP says, it does. He also expressed confidence that this time the hat-trick of BJP-NDA in Assam is certain. The Prime Minister also discussed the Women’s Reservation Bill and said the government will introduce it in the special session of Parliament starting from April 16.

He said, “We have discussed this with all political parties and requested them to unanimously carry forward this work related to the rights of the sisters and daughters of the country. No state will be harmed by this, be it North-East or South India. Arrangements are being made to provide additional seats for women.” PM Modi especially appealed to the women of Assam to meet leaders of all political parties and urge the passage of this law. This will be beneficial not only for Assam but for the entire country so that women can get 33 percent reservation.

Addressing the gathering, PM Modi said, “There is no place even to stand on the road. This ground is packed. I have worked in Gujarat for years but if I had to hold a meeting at ten or eleven in the morning, I would not have been able to gather such a crowd. You have broken all records. The people of Assam have done two big things this time, first is a hat-trick of the NDA government and second, creating a record of defeat for the namesakes of the ‘royal family’ of Congress sitting in Delhi.”

In the rally, Prime Minister Modi also showed his affectionate feelings towards the youth and children. He said, “This girl has made so many drawings at such a young age. Some other children have also brought their drawings. I have asked the SPG personnel to collect them. If you have written your name and address on the back, I will send you the letter.” During the rally held in Barpeta, Modi, referring to the foundation day of the BJP, said, “Today, April 6, is also the foundation day of the Bharatiya Janata Party. I extend my congratulations and best wishes to all the workers and members of the BJP across the country and the world. With the mantra of ‘Nation First’, we are committed to serve Mother India. With this commitment, the BJP is seeking your blessings in this election.”

The Prime Minister also appreciated the local enthusiasm and energy. He said, “The month of April is the month of the auspicious occasion of Bohag Bihu. All of you are busy preparing for its celebration but this time along with Bohag Bihu it is also the festival of democracy, because now only two days are left for voting. The enthusiasm and energy I see here and across Assam is extraordinary and unprecedented. The crowd gathered here reflects the same spirit; there is hardly any space left even on the roads.” He said, “This huge crowd in Barpeta is making the same announcement. A hat-trick for the BJP and a century of defeat for the Congress’ naamdars. Today’s crowd is a symbol of the resolve and support of the people of Assam.”

He said, “Congress is that party which never does development work with long-term thinking. Congress works in the short term so that corruption can take place in it. BJP is the party which works with a long vision. We are moving towards the goal of developed India from developed Assam and hence worked diligently in the last 10 years. The 10 years were worked towards establishing peace and harmony in Assam.” On this occasion, PM Modi also inspired the leaders and workers of BJP and urged everyone to work with full diligence in the elections. He assured all the party workers that their hard work and public trust will make the party victorious.
