Assam Elections: PM Modi interacted with BJP workers, launched a scathing attack on Congress, made this serious allegation
New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said Assam witnessed instability for a long time, but the situation has changed in the last decade as the BJP’s double-engine government made every possible effort to ensure peace in the state. Addressing booth level workers of BJP under the ‘Mera Booth, Sabse Strong Samvad’ program in Assam, he said that the government has signed 12 peace agreements with various organizations in the Northeast. This initiative has been started with the aim of delivering the message directly to the party workers before the elections.
The Prime Minister said BJP workers should remind people that the Congress used to make agreements “only on paper and to make headlines and mislead people.” He said, “We have seen a period when Assam was burning in violence. Assam suffered instability for a long time, but things have changed in the last decade. Today we can see a new confidence because the BJP’s double-engine government has made every possible effort for peace.”
He alleged that during the Congress rule, peace agreements were ignored and the youth had to suffer, leading them towards unrest. He said, “No agreement with militant and student organizations in Assam was successful during the Congress rule. The Congress betrayed the Bodo issue.” He said that BJP has worked to establish peace and secure the future of the youth and the peace agreements are actually being implemented honestly.
The Prime Minister told the workers that they are all working hard for the hat-trick of victory of BJP-NDA in Assam. He said, “I welcome the workers of Assam BJP. I am also a worker like you. Whatever responsibility is given to me, I carry it out. Today I have got the opportunity to talk to you at the booth level. I know that you all are full of determination of ‘my booth is the strongest’.”
He said first-time voters need to be reminded about the “misgovernance” of Congress governments and alert them that even the smallest mistake can set the state back. He said, “Peace is most important for the development of any state.” The Prime Minister asked Assam BJP workers to caution people about AI-generated videos being circulated in the state. Voting for the 126-member assembly of Assam will be held on April 9. The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is in power in Assam since 2016.
