Assam News: Talks on seat sharing within the NDA for the upcoming elections in Assam have been completed. The state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party has given this information. However, the final distribution of seats is yet to be formally announced.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday night, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that talks regarding seat sharing with major allies of NDA have been completed. He said that after discussions with Assam Gana Parishad, Bodoland People’s Front and Rabha Hasong Joutha Sangram Samiti, an agreement has been reached on the distribution of seats.
When will the seat distribution be announced?
Sarma said that all negotiations regarding seats within the NDA have been completed. Now this proposal will be placed before the Central Parliamentary Board of the Bharatiya Janata Party for approval. After getting the approval of the board, a formal announcement of seat distribution will be made, which may take two to four days.
Which Congress MLAs joined BJP?
Meanwhile, another important development has come to light in the politics of Assam. Three suspended Congress MLAs Kamalakhya De Purkayastha, Basanta Das and Sashikant Das have joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, while welcoming these leaders into the party, said that this is a big day for BJP. He said that the joining of these MLAs in BJP will strengthen the party in the state.
Sarma said that this step is an indication that support for BJP is continuously increasing in Assam.
