Assembly Election 2026: The Central Election Commission (ECI) Today the dates for assembly elections of five states West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam and Puducherry have been announced. The Chief Election Commissioner and his team announced the complete polling schedule in a press conference held at Vigyan Bhawan today at 4 pm.

According to the information given by the Election Commission, the counting of votes in these five states will be held on May 4, 2026. The schedule of major states is as follows:

  • West Bengal: This time there will be strict security in Bengal to prevent violence. Voting will be held here in two phases. The first phase will be held on April 23 and the second phase on April 29. The counting of votes will be held on May 4, 2026.
  • Tamil Nadu: The state will vote in a single phase on April 23. The counting of votes will be held on May 4, 2026.
  • Assam: Assam will go to polls in a single phase on April 9. The counting of votes will be held on May 4, 2026.
  • Kerala: In Kerala too, citizens will exercise their right to vote on April 9. The counting of votes will be held on May 4, 2026.
  • Puducherry: The Union Territory of Puducherry will go to polls on a single day on April 9. The counting of votes will be held on May 4, 2026.

25 lakh employees will participate in the election process

The Chief Election Commissioner said that a total of 25 lakh employees will contribute to conduct the election process. Of these, 15 lakh employees will work to facilitate the voting process. Additionally, 8,50,000 security personnel will be deployed. 49,000 micro-inspectors and 1,444 observers will be posted at polling stations. There will be 40,000 counting officers, 21,000 field officers and 15,000 micro-inspectors for the counting of votes.
