Assembly elections 2026 schedule released: 17.4 crore voters will vote, results will come on May 4, know when and where voting will take place?

New Delhi. The dates for the assembly elections 2026 to be held in five states and one union territory of the country have been announced. Election Commission of India said that about 17.4 crore voters will exercise their franchise in these elections.

According to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, about 2.19 lakh polling stations will be set up for a total of 824 assembly seats, where about 25 lakh polling officers will be deployed. The Commission has also visited all the states and reviewed the election preparations.

Assam-
In Majuli area, polling parties make a long journey by boat, road and tractor to reach the Dhanekhana booth, where there are only 248 voters.

Kerala-
Officials have to undertake a 30 km off-road journey and 8 km trek on foot to reach the Idamalakudi booth in the tribal area of ​​Idukki.

West Bengal-
The polling parties walk through the hilly areas of Buxa Tiger Reserve to reach Buxa, Chunabhatti and Adama booths.

Tamilnadu-
The Vellimalai polling station located in Varusanadu Hills is designed for only 5 voters.

Puducherry-
VO Chidambaram Pillai School has been made a model polling station, where a total of 1,373 voters will vote in two booths.
