Abhijeet Deepke folded hands with the police officer at Jantar Mantar and said; Will you get solace only when he dies?
The indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar by educationist and environmentalist Sonam Wangchuk under the banner of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan entered the 16th day on Monday. Due to the ongoing hunger strike, Sonam Wangchuk’s health is continuously deteriorating and her weight is also decreasing. Despite this, their protest continues. Meanwhile, CJP founder Abhijit Dipke is making continuous efforts to take care of Wangchuk at the protest site and ensure that he does not face any inconvenience. He has also shared a video on social media platform X, in which some scenes related to the movement are visible.
During the ongoing indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar, CJP founder Abhijeet Deepke was once again seen folding his hands in front of a police officer. The matter was about placing a tarpaulin on the stage to protect Sonam Wangchuk, who was on hunger strike, from the sun. The stage was covered with a tarpaulin to protect Wangchuk from the scorching sun. Meanwhile, a police officer present on the spot objected to this and said, “Where is the sunlight coming on the stage?”
‘Will you get solace only when he dies?’
During the ongoing indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar, a video of the argument between CJP founder Abhijit Deepke and a police officer present at the spot over the installation of tarpaulin has surfaced. In the video, Deepke folds his hands with the police officer and says, “I am folding my hands sir. That person (Sonam Wangchuk) is feeling sunburned. She is in trouble, why are you creating so many problems? You can’t see that the sun is coming. Why are you making life forbidden?”
During this, the police officer allegedly asks Deepke to remove the tarpaulin and show where the sunlight is falling. On this, Deepke replied emotionally, “Remove it, meaning you can’t see it? Sir, I am folding my hands. He is getting sunburned. Will you get solace only when he dies? He is getting sunburned, that’s why we planted it. Had we planted it so many days before this? We had not planted it when there was no sunshine.”
This is not the first time that CJP founder Abhijeet Deepke has been seen appealing to police officers with folded hands. Earlier too, he had shared a video on his X handle, in which he was allegedly seen standing in front of police officers with folded hands and holding their legs. According to Deepke, at that time he was seeking permission to set up a tent for his team. He said that due to the overnight rain, the people on hunger strike could not sleep the whole night and their belongings also got wet. He had claimed that permission was being sought to erect temporary tents to protect the protesters from rain and bad weather.
Announcement of Parliament march on 20th July
Along with demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, CJP has also raised the demand for compensation of Rs 1 crore each to the families of students who lost their lives due to alleged irregularities in the examinations. The party has announced that a march will be taken out to Parliament on July 20 in support of its demands. The organization says that through this march it will convey its demands to the central government and draw attention to the issues related to the education system. At present, the indefinite hunger strike of educationist and environmentalist Sonam Wangchuk is going on at Jantar Mantar.
How is Sonam Wangchuk’s health?

Meanwhile, Wangchuk on Saturday made an emotional appeal to his supporters, saying that people should take responsibility themselves instead of looking for heroes in others.
