Mumbai rains: At least two diverted, seven cancelled amid heavy downpour | Details

Mumbai: Several flights have been cancelled or diverted as heavy rains continue to hamper normal life since Wednesday after. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert in the city. The city is expected to receive rain at least till 8:30 AM on Thursday, the department said.

Sharing details with news agency ANI, an official of Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport said that seven flights have been grounded and at least two flights have been diverted till Wednesday evening. Sharing information with passengers, Vistara took to X saying, “Flight UK941 from Delhi to Mumbai (DEL-BOM) has been diverted to Hyderabad (HYD) due to bad weather at Mumbai airport and is expected to arrive in Hyderabad (HYD) at 2110 hours. Please stay tuned for further updates.”

In another post, the airline said, “Flight UK534 from Hyderabad to Mumbai (HYD-BOM) is returning to Hyderabad (HYD) due to bad weather at Mumbai airport and is expected to arrive in Hyderabad (HYD) at 2115 hours. Please stay tuned for further updates.”

Vistara shares message on X

Apart from Vistara, Spicejet also shared a message on its X handle saying, “ Due to bad weather (heavy rain) in Mumbai (BOM), all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights may get affected. Passengers are requested to keep a check on their flight status via the official website of the airlines.”

The IndiGo Airlines also issued a travel advisory on its X handle saying, “ It’s raining in #Mumbai & flight schedules are impacted due to weather conditions and air traffic congestion. If you or your loved ones are traveling, you may keep a tab on the flight status at the official website and allow ample travel time to the airport”.

Heavy rains impact normal life

Heavy rains impacted the normal life in the city with local trains also running late in the city. Waterlogging has been reported from several railway stations and other parts of the city. People returning home after offices had to face tough times due to long traffic jams in the city. The authorities have also issued an advisory asking people to stay indoors.
