Attack on police team investigating theft case
Triveniganj. A case of attack on the police team has come to light during the investigation of jewelery theft case in Patarghatti ward number 5 of the police station area on Saturday. A home guard jawan was seriously injured in the incident, while a sub-inspector is also said to have been assaulted.
According to the information, Rakesh Bhagat, a resident of Ward 18 of the Municipal Council area, had complained to the police about the theft of jewelery from his house about a week ago. It is alleged that a member of the family, who is said to be a drug addict, took jewelery from the house and sold it along with some of his associates and spent the amount received. After receiving the complaint, the police was busy investigating the matter.
During the investigation, the police got information about the alleged involvement of Akash Kumar, son of Anirudh Yadav, resident of Patarghatti Ward 5. On this basis, at around 11 am on Saturday morning, Sub-Inspector Vijay Kumar reached his house with the police team for questioning. It is alleged that when the police started taking Akash Kumar to the police station for questioning, Akash, his brother Ashish and other family members opposed the police team and attacked him.
Home guard jawan Tarun Kumar Yadav, who was present with the police team, was injured in the attack. The injured jawan told that during the fight, Sub-Inspector Vijay Kumar was attacked with an iron rod. While trying to save him, the rod hit his head, due to which his head got cracked and started bleeding profusely. In injured condition, he was taken to the sub-divisional hospital, where he was treated. Tarun Kumar Yadav is a resident of Bhawanipatti Ward 2 of Rajeshwari police station area.
He told that after the incident, the police brought a woman Anita Devi to the police station, who was later released. Here, the local police officers were seen avoiding saying anything openly regarding the incident. Till the time of writing the news, no official action could be confirmed in this matter. When asked in this regard, Superintendent of Police Sharath RS said that the matter will be investigated and complete information will be collected.
