“Attack will not bring good results”, Cuban president warns Trump amid Iran war

US President Donald Trump has repeatedly warned that after Iran, their eyes are on Cuba. Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel warned America as war clouds thickened in the country’s sky. He said, ‘If Cuba is attacked, America will have to pay a lot of price. Any attack on Cuba would endanger the security of the entire region.’

Due to the US invasion of Venezuela, the country is suffering from an oil crisis. In the midst of this situation, Diaz Kanel said in an interview on NBC News’ Meet the Press program, “If the United States attacks, the Cuban people will bet their lives to defend the country. I don’t think America has enough reason to attack Cuba or kidnap the president. Still, if there is an attack, we are ready for war. If necessary, we will give our lives. It is written in our national anthem, to die for the country is to live.”

President Diaz Canel said, “If the United States attacks, the Cuban people will risk their lives to defend their country.”

The situation in Cuba has been very serious since the US invasion of Venezuela on January 3 this year. America has been embargoed on Cuba for many years. Venezuela has been Cuba’s only support in this dire situation. Fuel oil and other essential goods were supplied to Cuba from here. The country’s economy has practically been suffocated by the shutdown. Oil supplies to Cuba have been cut off since mid-December. The situation in Cuba is currently complicated by a long-term economic crisis, energy crisis and US embargo. Power outages are increasing across the country, surgeries are being reduced in hospitals, food and fuel shortages are intensifying, tourists are not coming to the country. In short, the country has reached the threshold of a humanitarian emergency.

In this situation, the country has started negotiations with America to withdraw the ban. But America’s long-standing goal has been to topple the communist government in Havana. Activities have already started for that purpose. Before Maduro’s arrest in Venezuela, U.S. officials held secret meetings with influential Venezuelan circles. After the fall of the government, the responsibility was given to the leaders there, but the control is in the hands of America. In the same table, the US is now said to be seeking similar contacts with influential people in Cuba. In this situation, the Cuban president stated clearly, “There will be no change in the country’s political system. If we do not demand our political change from America, America cannot force us.”
