India’s unique railway station
The last railway station of India is Attari Railway Station, located on the India-Pakistan border in Amritsar district of Punjab. This railway station was historically known for the ‘Samjhauta Express’, where Pakistani visa and passport were required, however this service is now closed. Let us tell you that the security here was very tight and if caught without documents, a case could be registered under the Foreign Act.
Know why Samjhauta Express was closed
It is claimed that, during the Shimla Agreement of Indira Gandhi and Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in 1971, it was agreed to run the Samjhauta Express. It was launched on July 22, 1976 at Attari, Lahore. Earlier it was run daily, but in 1994 it was decided to run it only for two days.

In the year 2019, when Modi government removed Article 370 from Kashmir, then after that the Samjhauta Express from Pakistan was stopped. It is noteworthy that at that time, 11 coaches of the Indian train were in Lahore which are stuck there even today. However, 16 coaches of Pakistani trains are also at Attari railway station in India.
