School principal put under digital arrest for 24 hours, then…
A case of digital arrest has come to light again for the third time in 10 days in Madhya Pradesh. This time the capital is the target of cyber criminals. Recently, Farrukh Khan, a school principal living in Kohefiza area, was trapped by criminals, but he not only understood their cunning and pressure but also escaped being a victim of fraud with his intelligence.
This is the whole matter
Actually, Farrukh received a call at 1:30 pm on Saturday afternoon. The caller introduced himself as a representative of DHL company and said that his parcel sent to Bangkok was stuck in customs. The surprising thing was that Farrukh had never sent any parcel.
After this, the fraudsters revealed his Aadhaar number and claimed that the parcel sent in his name included tiger skin, nails, dozens of passports and ATM cards. To make matters worse, the call was connected to an alleged 'customs officer' and then to a 'cyber cell officer'.
try your best to intimidate
The fake Cyber Cell officer tried to scare Farrukh by saying that his Aadhaar card was being used in 8-10 states of the country. He said that transactions worth 1.5 million dollars have taken place in the bank accounts opened in the name of Farrukh.
On the pretext of confirming the allegations, the fraudsters asked Farrukh for his bank details and other personal information. For this, they were made to sit in front of the screen, Skype was installed and they were kept under surveillance through video calls.
This is how I defended myself
At the same time, in this stressful situation, Farrukh acted wisely. He gave wrong bank details to the fraudsters. After some time, he took the opportunity and made an excuse to go to the bathroom and gathered information about 'digital arrest' on the internet. Showing wisdom, he immediately closed the internet connection and reached the police.
Application given to crime branch
On the complaint of Farrukh, the crime branch has started investigating the case. When the police contacted the fraudsters, they tried to threaten the police officers. Seeing the real police on video call, the fraudsters immediately disconnected the call and ran away. Meanwhile, on Monday, Farooq applied to the crime branch regarding the attempt to defraud him and demanded registration of a case.
