Attention Census team will knock door to door from today, know the 33 questions that will be asked to you
A new era is beginning in the country from today. After a long wait, the first phase of the country’s digital census has finally started today i.e. from 1st April. This time the census is going to be quite different and hi-tech. For this, the government has prepared a list of 33 questions, in which information will be taken from the walls of your house to the fuel in your kitchen. The good thing is that this time you will not have to wait for the census officer to come to your home, you can also enter your information yourself on the online portal.
What is the special plan this time?
This census was originally scheduled to be held in 2021, but it was delayed due to the Corona epidemic. Now it has been started with the target of 2027. This first phase, which will run between today and September 30, has been named ‘House Listing and Housing Census’ (HLO). In this, census workers will come to your house and record basic things like the condition of the house, the material used in flooring and roofing. Along with this, information related to the name of the head of the family, number of members and caste will also be taken.
These 33 questions will have to be answered
During the census you will be asked many questions related to facilities. This includes questions like source of drinking water, source of electricity, toilet facilities, drainage system, fuel used in kitchen (LPG/PNG) and number of rooms in the house. Apart from this, data on whether you have assets like radio, TV, laptop, internet, mobile, bicycle or car will also be collected along with the mobile number.
Self-enumeration: Become a digital charioteer sitting at home
The biggest feature of this census is ‘self-enumeration’. This means that you can fill your details yourself through the web portal in 16 languages. For this you will get 15 days time before the start of the field survey. For example, in some areas of Delhi, where the survey will start from April 16, people can fill the information themselves online between April 1 and April 15.
For self-enumeration, any member of the family can register with the mobile number on the official portal. On the portal you will have to select the district and mark the location of your house on the map. After submitting the information you will get a 16 digit ‘Self-enumeration ID’ (SE ID) Will get it. When census workers come to your house, just show them this ID, your work will be done in minutes.
Your data will be completely secure and confidential
This is the 8th census of the country after independence. The government has clarified that your data will remain completely confidential. It can neither be presented in any court nor can anyone see it through RTI. This process will be completed through state governments under the supervision of the Home Ministry.
