Attention Government’s new order for LPG and PNG customers, complete this work in 90 days otherwise the connection will be disconnected.
If LPG is used in your house too, then this news is directly related to your pocket and kitchen. To completely stop the misuse of domestic LPG cylinders in the country and to ensure correct and transparent distribution of clean fuel at every corner, the government and the country’s major oil marketing companies (IOCL, BPCL, HPCL) have made their rules more stringent than before.
The Central Government is now going to implement the policy of ‘one house, one gas connection’ very strictly in the entire country. Under this mega-campaign, some very important and new rules have been issued for LPG and PNG customers with a fixed time limit of 30 to 90 days. Let us explain to you in very simple language what effect these new rules will have on you and what steps you will have to take immediately to avoid any major problem or penalty.
What is the government’s ‘one house, one gas connection’ policy and why was it needed?
The main objective of the government and government oil companies is to completely control black marketing, illegal hoarding and misuse of gas cylinders in the market. Under this new policy, now having more than one LPG connection at the same address or in the name of the same family (on the basis of ration card or your registered address) has been completely banned.
The government has taken this strict step because complaints were being received for a long time that people are taking advantage of multiple connections in the same house, doing illegal refilling of domestic cylinders and misusing cheap domestic cylinders at commercial places. With this new rule, now only genuine consumers will be able to get the benefit of gas.
What are the new 30-day and 90-day rules? Know the complete deadline
The government has now set a strict schedule for urban and rural customers using both piped natural gas (PNG) and LPG cylinders simultaneously. According to the new rules, if a new piped PNG connection has been activated in your house, then you will have to compulsorily surrender your old LPG cylinder connection within the next 30 days or keep it on hold with the oil company.
Along with this, it is extremely important for you to complete the paperwork to settle or surrender your old LPG connection within a maximum of 90 days (3 months) from the date of commencement of PNG connection. If you fail to do so within this stipulated time, then official and legal action can be taken against you by the oil companies.
Also know these old rules related to refilling and booking
This is not the first time that the government has adopted such a strict and aggressive stance regarding the distribution of LPG cylinders; Even before this, many strict rules have been made to regulate the timing of cylinder booking. Under the initial rules, no customer could book a second cylinder (refill) within 25 days of the first cylinder being delivered.
Apart from this, to ensure equitable distribution of subsidized cylinders to all citizens of the country and to prevent sudden shortage of gas during the festival season, a proposal to keep a mandatory gap of at least 45 days between the delivery of two cylinders has also been seriously discussed.
If rules are violated, connection may be blocked, subsidy will be stopped
Customers who are taking these new rules and deadlines of oil companies lightly may have to face very serious financial and legal consequences in the coming days. If you do not voluntarily provide correct information to the agency about multiple or unapproved additional gas connections within the stipulated 90 days, then after investigation the oil companies can block your gas connection forever. Government subsidy (LPG Subsidy) of defaulters who break these rules will be stopped with immediate effect and if caught, they may have to face heavy fines.
To avoid any problem, complete KYC immediately (e-KYC).
If you unknowingly have more than one gas connection in your home or you have both LPG and PNG connections, you can protect yourself from legal action by following these simple steps:
Choose option of surrender or transfer
Immediately contact the office of your nearest gas agency (Indane, HP, or Bharat Gas) to immediately surrender any excess or illegal connection in your house or get it legally transferred in the name of any other member of your family living at another address.
