Attention Nature’s chaos on the last day of March: Orgy of rain and hail in these states including Delhi-UP, big alert from IMD

New Delhi/Lucknow: The departure of March 2026 is proving to be disastrous for North India. On the last day of the month, nature has started showing its fierce form. Heavy rain, hailstorm and strong storm have caused devastation in many states including Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab-Haryana. Due to the activation of Western Disturbance, not only the weather patterns have changed, but it has also spoiled the hard work of the farmers. There are reports of loss of life and property due to lightning in many areas, in view of which the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a high alert for March 31 and the first week of April.

Two-way system spoiled the game

According to meteorologists, two very active western disturbances coming from Pakistan and Afghanistan are currently over North India. Its maximum impact will be seen on March 31. Heavy snowfall and rain is expected in the valleys of Kashmir today. At the same time, there is a possibility of hailstorm in the plains of eastern and northern India. There is an alert of heavy rain with winds reaching speeds of up to 50 kilometers per hour in the northeastern states on March 31 and April 1. Coastal areas of South India like Kerala are also under threat from nature.

How will be the situation in Delhi and UP?

There will be movement of clouds throughout the day on March 31 in the capital Delhi. There is a strong possibility of light drizzle in the afternoon and evening. The maximum temperature here will be around 34°C and the minimum will be around 18-20°C. At the same time, an alert of moderate rain with thunder and lightning has been issued in many districts of Uttar Pradesh including Lucknow. Hailstorm in Meerut and surrounding areas has caused huge damage to Rabi crops. Rains with strong winds are also going to continue in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan.

State on alert from mountains to plains

Snowfall and winds at a speed of 50 km are expected in the Himalayan regions on March 31. There is a fear of heavy hailstorm in Uttarakhand between April 3 and 5. There is a warning of heavy rain in North-Eastern Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal. Apart from this, storms will continue in Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha till April 3. There is a possibility of hailstorm in Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra of central India, while there is a danger of lightning in Telangana and Karnataka of the south.

Will there be relief in April?

The Meteorological Department has advised farmers to keep their finished crops covered. The general public has been advised to carry umbrellas while going out and not to stop under trees in bad weather. Due to this rain, the temperature of North-West India will drop by 3 to 5 degrees, due to which the beginning of April will be slightly cool. However, IMD says that after April 4, the heat will start showing its anger once again. At present, there is a strong need to remain alert.
