The base price of Aqib Dar in the mini auction of IPL 2026 was only Rs 30 lakh, but during the auction there was a fierce competition for him between Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad. In the end, Delhi Capitals won and included Aaqib in their squad for Rs 8.40 crore. This amount is 28 times more than their base price.
Created a stir by breaking Kapil Dev’s record
Aaqib Dar’s name first came into discussion across the country when he created history in the Duleep Trophy. This fast bowler from Jammu and Kashmir, playing for North Zone, took four wickets in four consecutive balls in the match against East Zone.
With this feat, he broke the record of three wickets (hat-trick) in three balls made by Kapil Dev in the 1979 final. In that match, Aaqib took 5 wickets for 28 runs and registered his name in golden letters in the history of Duleep Trophy.
Continuously giving strong performance in domestic cricket
Jammu and Kashmir all-rounder Aaqib Dar has been performing brilliantly in domestic cricket for a long time. Even though he has not yet got a chance to debut for Team India, he has impressed everyone with his ability at the domestic level.
Aaqib has played 36 first-class, 29 List A and 34 T20 matches so far. In these matches he has scored 870, 351 and 141 runs respectively. His record in bowling has also been excellent—he has taken 125, 42 and 43 wickets in all three formats respectively.
