How was the match?

England won the toss and elected to bowl first and Australia invited KL to bat first. Australia team could score only 152 runs. In reply, England’s first innings collapsed for 110, allowing Australia to take a 42-run lead. In the second innings, England bowled brilliantly and reduced Australia to 132 runs. England were given a target of 175 runs, but England completed the target with the loss of just 6 wickets.

England’s first win in Australia since 2011

It was England’s first Test win in Australia since 2011. This made England only the second team to beat Australia in a Boxing Day Test. Earlier, Australia had lost twice in the Boxing Day Test against the Indian team. Australia have played a total of 15 Boxing Day Tests, winning 10, losing 3 and drawing two.
