Ravi Shastri told Rohit Sharma the Gurumantra to return to form
Delhi: Indian team captain Rohit Sharma is struggling for runs in the Test series being played against Australia. He is batting at number six instead of opening, but this change has not been successful so far. Former Team India coach Ravi Shastri has advised Rohit to enter the field with a clear mindset and adopt an aggressive stance against the bowlers. He said that if Rohit lasts for the first 10-15 minutes, he can put pressure on the opposition team by playing in his natural style.
Rohit had missed the first match due to the birth of his second child. It was expected that he would open after his return in the second Test, but after KL Rahul's innings, the team management sent him at number six. However, Rohit has been able to score only 10, 3, and 6 runs in his last three innings in this sequence. At the same time, Rahul played a brilliant inning of 84 runs in the Brisbane Test.
Ravi Shastri said, “The best number six batsman in the world knows how to counter-attack. Rohit should focus on attacking and not worry about anything else. “If they play aggressively, it could be the best way to return to form and help the team win the match.”
Advice on opening with Rohit
Shastri also said that he was in favor of Rohit opening the innings in the Brisbane Test. However, he also praised Rahul's current form. Rahul batted brilliantly and used his shots effectively in Australian conditions.
It is noteworthy that the fourth Test of the series between India and Australia will be played in Melbourne from 26th December. Now it has to be seen whether Rohit is able to contribute to the team by changing his strategy or not.
