AUS vs SL: Australia out of tournament? Sri Lanka beat Kangaroos by 8 wickets to enter Super 8; Nisanka’s unbeaten century

AUS vs SL, T20 World Cup 2026 : ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Today the 30th match was played between Australia and Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka defeated Australia by 8 wickets in the match played at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele. With this win, Sri Lanka have entered the Super 8. The Australian team, who lost the toss in this match, set a target of 182 runs against Sri Lanka on the strength of captain Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head’s half-centuries. In reply, Sri Lanka reached the target of 182 runs in 18 overs on the strength of Pathum Nisanka’s unbeaten century.

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Today the 30th match was played between Australia and Sri Lanka. In this match, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bowl first and invited Australia to bat first. Australia started well when batting first. Australia’s opening pair of Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head scored 100 runs in 8.2 overs. At one time it was thought that Australia would cross the 200 mark easily. But the team was bowled out for 181 runs in 20 overs. Travis Head scored 56 and Mitchell Marsh scored 54 for Australia. Also, English and Maxwell shared a middle-order partnership to take the team past 150 runs. English was dismissed for 27 runs, while Maxwell was dismissed for 22 runs. Dushan Hemantha took three wickets and Dushmantha Chamira took two wickets for Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka’s successful chase

The Sri Lankan team did not start their innings well as they chased down the runs given by Australia. Kusal Perera was dismissed for 1 run. But then Pathum Nisanka and Kusal Mendis put on a 105-run partnership, Kusal was dismissed for 51 off 38 balls, hitting 6 fours and 1 six in his innings. After Kusal was dismissed, Pawan Rathnayake came on, Pathum Nisanka gave Sri Lanka the win with Pawan Rathnayake as his partner. Pathum Nisanka became the real hero of this victory. He scored an unbeaten 100 off 52 balls with 10 fours and 5 sixes. While Pawan Rathnayake scored 28 runs not out. Sri Lanka team has entered the Super 8 with this win, while on the other hand, Australia’s challenge in the tournament is in jeopardy.
