Australia announced new captain against Pakistan, will handle the responsibility in T20 series
Australia vs Pakistan: Australia has announced a new captain for the T20 series against Pakistan. Josh Inglis will captain Australia for the first time in the absence of regular captains Mitch Marsh and Pat Cummins. This in-form wicketkeeper batsman has been given preference over experienced Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis. English will also captain the team in the last match of the three-match ODI series against Pakistan, as many Australian players are giving priority to preparations for the upcoming Test series with India.
Inglis played an important role in Australia's ODI World Cup win in India last year. After the recent retirement of experienced wicketkeeper Matthew Wade, the 29-year-old Englishman is the first choice wicketkeeper in the white ball format.
Regarding him, selection committee chairman George Bailey said on Wednesday, 'Josh is an important member of the ODI and T20 team and is a highly respected player on and off the field. He has led Australia A before and will play this role with a positive approach. Josh will get good support from Matt Short and Adam Zampa as well as senior players like Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis.
