Australia vs Pakistan: Australia has announced a new captain for the T20 series against Pakistan. Josh Inglis will captain Australia for the first time in the absence of regular captains Mitch Marsh and Pat Cummins. This in-form wicketkeeper batsman has been given preference over experienced Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis. English will also captain the team in the last match of the three-match ODI series against Pakistan, as many Australian players are giving priority to preparations for the upcoming Test series with India.

Inglis played an important role in Australia's ODI World Cup win in India last year. After the recent retirement of experienced wicketkeeper Matthew Wade, the 29-year-old Englishman is the first choice wicketkeeper in the white ball format.

Regarding him, selection committee chairman George Bailey said on Wednesday, 'Josh is an important member of the ODI and T20 team and is a highly respected player on and off the field. He has led Australia A before and will play this role with a positive approach. Josh will get good support from Matt Short and Adam Zampa as well as senior players like Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis.

With English being made the captain, senior players like Test captain Pat Cummins, fast bowler Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith will not play the last match of the ODI series against Pakistan. In their place, fast bowlers Spencer Johnson, Xavier Bartlett, wicketkeeper batsman Josh Philip and another fast bowler Lance Morris have been included in the team.

Australia won the first match of the three-match ODI series against Pakistan by two wickets at the MCG. Now the last two matches of the series will be played in Adelaide (8 November) and Perth (10 November). After this, a three-match T20 series will be held in Brisbane, Sydney and Hobart between 14-18 November.
