Australia in double danger: Zimbabwe and Ireland will decide the future of Super 8!

New Delhi. The dramatic scenario of T20 World Cup 2026 Group B has now become more exciting. Zimbabwe team has two chances to oust Australia from Super 8, and with this Australia is stuck in double danger. Ireland can also increase difficulties for them.

Australia, who were among the favorites at the start of the tournament, are now in danger of being eliminated from the Super 8s. So far in Group B, Sri Lanka has secured a place in the Super 8 by winning all its three matches, while Oman is out of the tournament after three defeats. Now only one team in Group B, Zimbabwe, Australia and Ireland, will be able to make it to the remaining Super 8.

If Zimbabwe beats Ireland today, the hopes of both Ireland and Australia will be dashed. On the other hand, if Ireland wins, both Zimbabwe and Ireland will have 4 points each and Australia will slip to fourth place. Ireland will also need to keep an eye on the net run rate for the Super 8s and need a big win to improve it.

  • Zimbabwe has the second chance against Sri Lanka on 19 February. If Zimbabwe wins that match too, then the path to both Australia and Ireland will be blocked. Australia’s last match is against Oman on 20 February, where the team will have to register a big win in terms of net run rate.

In this way, the match of Group B remains exciting till now and who will get the last ticket to Super 8, it completely depends on the performance of Zimbabwe and Ireland. Australia will now have to prepare thoroughly in every match to improve its position.
