Australia name their T 20 squad for the upcoming series against Pakistan

On Monday, 18th September, Australia opted not to include their Test stars for the T20 home series against Pakistan that is set to be under a new captain, to be announced soon. The T20 series consisting of three matches next month will end only four days before Australia’s five home Tests against India. Selectors also kept the fast bowlers Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood, Test men Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head among some rest players. A cause for concern for the Australians, Cameron Green, an all-rounder is injured and will be out of the Australian summer season.

Marsh is the regular T20 skipper which leaves the likes of Josh Inglis, Adam Zampa, Glenn Maxwell, and Matt Short to lead the team against Pakistan.

Xavier Bartlett, Nathan Ellis and Spencer Johnson return from injury for matches in Brisbane on November 14, Sydney two days later and Hobart on November 18.

The first Test match of the series against Australia will be held in Perth and is scheduled to take place on November 22.

“This group of players have all represented Australia in T20 cricket, so we look forward to them continuing to enhance their international experience throughout this series,” dismissed chief selector George Bailey.

“We are delighted at the combination of experience and the very exciting newer entrants.”

There shall be T20s after a three-match one day international series against Pakistan which commences on November 4.

New Zealand test stars Cummins, Hazlewood and Starc were included in the one-day squad released two weeks ago whereas Marsh and Head will be going on paternity leave.
