Australia schedule: Australia released its international series schedule, will play 10 tests in 14 weeks, will compete with 3 countries
The biggest challenge of this tour is that the Australian team has to play a total of 10 Test matches in just 14 weeks between December and March. This is considered to be one of the most difficult and exhausting schedules in their history. During this period, the team will also have to play a home Test series against New Zealand, a five-Test series against India and then the 150th Anniversary Test against England.
Australia’s domestic season will begin in August 2026 with two Test matches against Bangladesh. After this the team will go on South Africa tour in October, where three test matches will be played. Then there will be a four-Test home series against New Zealand in December-January, which will be completed in a very short time.
After this the real challenge will begin, when the Australian cricket team will tour India. This five-Test series will not only be a battle of prestige, but will also be a big test for the senior players of the Australian team. Veteran players like Pat Cummins, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon have not been able to win the Test series in India till now, hence this tour is being considered as the final frontier for them.
Immediately after the India tour, the 150th Anniversary Test will be played against England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground from 11 to 15 March. Additionally, if Australia qualifies for the final of the World Test Championship (WTC), it will play the final in England in June. After this, a five-Test Ashes series will also be played against England between June and August.
Considering this busy schedule, Cricket Australia has paid special attention to the workload of its fast bowlers. This is why it has been decided to rest Cummins, Starc and Hazlewood from the initial matches of IPL 2026, so that they can remain fit for the entire season.
Overall, this Australia schedule is going to be a big test of the players’ fitness, form and mental strength. Especially the India tour, where victory has always been difficult, could prove to be the most important stage of this entire calendar.
