Two Indian Origin Players Included

Two Indian-origin players, Aryan Sharma and John James, have been included in the Australia U19 World Cup 2026 Squad along with two Sri Lankan Descent Nadean Cooray and Nitesh Samuel.

Led by Oliver Peake, Australia is set to defend its title during the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026, which is set to run between January 15 and February 6, 2026, in Namibia and Zimbabwe.

The Coaching staff includes Tim Nielsen (head coach), while Luke Butterworth and Travis Dean will be assistant coaches for the side.

The team is set to arrive in Namibia in early January to play their warm-up games, which are scheduled between January 9 and 14.

Announcing the Australia U19 World Cup 2026 Squad, head coach Tim Nielsen said, “We’re delighted to announce a strong and well-balanced squad for the ICC Under-19 World Cup.”

“Our focus has been on selecting players with complementary skill sets to maximise our chances of success in the tournament. The players named have impressed with their performances during the U19 series against India in September and at the recent National U19 Championship in Perth,” said Nielsen.

“It’s an exciting group, with some players already experiencing senior training environments, while others are progressing rapidly through our pathway. The World Cup is a fantastic opportunity for these young cricketers to showcase their talent and test themselves against the best in the world,” added Tim Nielsen.

A total of 16 teams are taking part in the tournament, divided into four groups. Placed in Group C, Australia will compete against Ireland, Japan and Sri Lanka.

The top three teams from each group will advance to the Super 6s, where they will be divided into two groups of six each. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals.

Australia are the winners of the previous edition of the tournament and will launch their title defence against Ireland on January 16 before facing Japan and Sri Lanka.
