Australian media unhappy with Kohli's punishment, Khawaja also dragged Bumrah between Virat and Constas
Sports Desk: The fourth match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy was dominated by the sparring between Virat Kohli and Sam Constas. The Australian players and the media there did not like Virat Kohli's collision and the subsequent altercation. However, the media there did not like the fine imposed by ICC. Usman Khawaja was batting with Sam Constas at that time. This issue was between Virat Kohli and Sam Constas but Khawaja included Jasprit also.
Australia's opening batsman Usman Khawaja said that he intervened to reduce the tension as he did not want the situation to get out of hand. Khawaja was at the crease when the incident occurred in the 10th over of the Australian innings on the first day of the fourth Test. Kohli and Constas' shoulders collided and both started looking at each other, after which there was a heated argument between them. Khawaja immediately put his hand around Kohli's neck and separated him. The on-field umpires also talked to both of them, after which the matter soon calmed down.
“I was going the other way and as soon as I turned, I saw them hitting me,” Khawaja told ABC. I was wondering, 'What's going on?' Sammy was playing aggressively. I just came to defuse the situation. But there was a bit of tension going on the whole time between Sam and (Jasprit) Bumrah and Virat. But I didn't want it to get spoiled by any physical contact. Khwaja said Kati, I have known Virat for a long time. We have been friends for a long time. I said (to Constas) stay calm. I will talk to him and I will sort it out.
