Australia’s star pacer ruled out of Adelaide Test against India due to injury
In a major blow to Australia, star pacer Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out of the second Test in Adelaide against India, with the visitors leading the five-match series 1-0.
New Delhi: Josh Hazlewood has been sidelined from the second Test against India in Adelaide due to a side strain. The 33-year-old pacer will miss the Day-Night Test, with Scott Boland likely to step into the playing XI as his replacement.
Cricket Australia has announced the inclusion of uncapped players Sean Abbott and Brendan Doggett in the squad.

“Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out of the second Test in Adelaide with a side strain, with two uncapped bowlers called up as cover.
“Sean Abbott and Brendan Doggett have both been added to the squad for the second NRMA Insurance Test match against India in Adelaide that will be played under lights.”
Josh Hazlewood, who took five wickets in the last pink-ball Test at the Adelaide Oval and was expected to play a key role in this match, will be sorely missed, potentially giving India a significant edge in the second Test.
After suffering a heavy defeat in the first Test, Australia will need to bounce back and level the series to keep their hopes of reaching the World Test Championship final alive. India’s win in Perth has seen them move ahead of Australia to the top of the WTC points table.
