Austrian Chancellor Stocker will visit India for four days, will have lunch with PM Modi to strengthen trade and investment
New Delhi. Austrian Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker is arriving on a four-day official visit to India from April 14. The visit aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various areas including trade, investment and critical technologies. During the visit, the Austrian leader will have wide-ranging discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, focusing on the current state of India-Austria relations and exchange views on important regional and global developments. According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker will discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields. The visit is particularly significant as it is Stoker’s first official visit to Asia and also his first visit to India.

Christian Stocker will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Federal Minister for Economy, Energy and Tourism Wolfgang Hattmendorfer as well as senior government officials and prominent business leaders. The Foreign Ministry said the two leaders will also exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest, including cooperation in multilateral fora. To mark the occasion the Prime Minister will host a lunch in honor of the guest. Apart from the meeting with the Prime Minister, Chancellor Stocker will also meet President Draupadi Murmu. Highlighting the historical context of relations, the Ministry of External Affairs underlined that India and Austria enjoy cordial, friendly and multidimensional relations, rooted in shared democratic values. The Ministry also said that the very successful visit of the Prime Minister to Austria in July 2024 has given a great height to the contemporary relations between the two countries. This upcoming visit is a testament to the growing partnership. Federal Chancellor Stocker’s visit also reflects the shared commitment of both countries to deepen and expand their partnership in new areas of mutual interest.
