Avatar 3 earned Rs 3100 crore in 3 days, even the big guns paled in comparison to James Cameron’s film!

James Cameron’s film ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ created a worldwide sensation as soon as it was released on 19 December 2025. This film has earned 345 million dollars globally (about Rs 3100 crore) in the first weekend. This includes $88 million from America and $257 million from other countries.

Jake Sully and Neytiri’s family face off against a new aggressive tribe, the Ash People, in this new Pandora story that features a fire and volcano theme. Spectacular visuals, 3D and IMAX attracted audiences to theatres.

Global earning wonder

The film earned $57.6 million in China, the franchise’s biggest opening. 2025 had the biggest start in countries like France, Korea, Germany. The global gross of IMAX was $43.6 million, which is the biggest of the year.

This is Cameron’s second biggest global opening, the first being ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’. In the year 2025, it became the second biggest opening after Zootopia 2.

Avatar 3 broke 11 big records

The film made records in many countries like Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore and became the biggest MPA opening of 2025. The biggest opening of the franchise in Türkiye and Ukraine. It is the longest film in the franchise, with a runtime of 3 hours 17 minutes.

A total of 11 records were broken, including the biggest IMAX opening of the year. Critics praised the visuals and action, although some described the plot as repetitive.

Competition from big guns in India

The film took a good start in India, but Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’ gave tough competition. ‘Dhurandhar’ is still taking more shows at many places. Still, the spectacular 3D effects of ‘Avatar 3’ and the world of Pandora are being liked by the audience.

Tickets are selling fast in premium format. This film is proving that James Cameron’s vision and technology can still be a big hit at the box office.
