Even the President does not have the right to decide Shankaracharya, Avimukteshwaranand got angry after receiving the notice, know what he said
Magh Mela Administration Notice to Avimukteshwaranand: The ongoing controversy regarding Shankaracharya in Prayagraj is not stopping. Swami Avimukteshwaranand has now made a direct and sharp attack on the governance and administration. He said that neither the Chief Minister of the state nor the President of the country can decide who is Shankaracharya. Even the President does not have the right to decide Shankaracharya. It is noteworthy that the fair administration has issued a notice to Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati and has raised questions on his post as Shankaracharya.
Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati said, “The Shankaracharya is the one who is accepted by the Shankaracharyas of the other three Peethas. Out of the three Peethas, the Shankaracharyas of two Peethas consider us as Shankaracharyas. In the last Magh Mela also, they have bathed with us. When the Shankaracharyas of Dwarka and Sringeri themselves are saying that you are Shankaracharya and are taking bath together, then what other proof is needed?”
Will the administration decide this? Shankaracharya?
He further said, “Will the administration decide whether someone is a Shankaracharya or not? Will the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh decide or the President of the country? Even the President of India does not have the right to decide who is a Shankaracharya and who is not. Only the Shankaracharya decides the Shankaracharya. The Shankaracharya of Puri has not said anything on this, he is silent. Regarding his affidavit in the Supreme Court, it was said that he has protested, but when we saw the copy of the affidavit, it is clearly written in it. That he was not asked for any support, so he did not give any opinion.”
Undisputedly we are Shankaracharya
Swami Avimukteshwarananda said that he has the clear written and practical support of two Shankaracharyas, while the tacit consent of the third Shankaracharya is also with him. He said, “Who else is Shankaracharya? We are the Shankaracharya of Jyotirmath and this is undisputed.”

cleanliness of administration
Earlier, the administration had given clarification on the allegations of stopping Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand from going to Sangam. Officials say they were not stopped from taking Sangam bath but were merely not allowed to go by vehicle. According to the administration, he was requested to get down from the vehicle and go for bath on foot. Despite explaining for three hours, they remained adamant on their demand and without permission tried to create obstacles in the arrangements for an important bathing festival like Mauni Amavasya.
