In the 2022 Uttarakhand assembly elections, Bharat Singh Chaudhary had contested from Rudraprayag seat on Bharatiya Janata Party ticket. In this election, he defeated Congress candidate Pradeep Thapliyal by a margin of about ten thousand votes. He received a total of 29,660 votes, after which he became MLA for the first time.
