Baba Ramdev raised questions on the mosque, challenged Muslims, talked about handing over the shrine
New Delhi: Guru Swami Ramdev has given a big statement regarding the temple-mosque dispute. On the mosque controversy in Mathura, he said, “Mathura is the birthplace of Shri Krishna, what is the use of a mosque there.” In an interview given in the media, Baba Ramdev said, “He was our big pilgrim. Where the invaders committed a lot of cruelty. Such big pilgrimage sites should be handed over to us. If there is dispute everywhere then there is brotherhood in the country.
What is the use of mosque?
Swami Ramdev said, “Therefore, we should not create controversies everywhere which are our places of pride.” Like Mathura, Kashi Vishwanath. This is the city of Lord Bhole Nath and Gyanvapi cannot be the name of any mosque. This only shows that our name is eternal. Secondly, Mathura is the birthplace of Lord Krishna. What is the use of a mosque there? At such big pilgrimage sites, our Muslim brothers should show big heart and come forward.” Lawsuits have been going on against the Gyanvapi Mosque in Varanasi since 1991. However, after the year 2021, the matter has progressed afresh. This year, 5 women had claimed to have idols of God inside the temple and had asked for permission to worship.
Hindu side kept claiming
Permission has also been given to worship here in February 2024. After this, Allahabad High Court said that this petition does not violate the Places of Worship Act. At the same time, regarding the Shahi Idgah Mosque of Mathura, Hindu parties have been claiming that it has been constructed at the birthplace of Lord Krishna. In the year 2020, six devotees had filed a petition, in which they demanded the removal of the mosque. Now there are 18 petitions in this case.
could survey the mosque
In August 2024, the Allahabad High Court said that these petitions also do not go against the Places of Worship Act 1991. In 2023, the High Court had appointed a court commissioner who could survey the mosque, but in January 2024, the Supreme Court had put an interim stay on it, which is still in force. At present the hearing on this matter is going on in the Supreme Court.
