The first match of Big Bash League 2025-26 was played between Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers at Perth Stadium. In this match, Babar Azam got a chance to play in Big Bash for the first time on behalf of Sydney Sixers. Babar Azam was out on the fifth ball of the third over while trying to play a big shot off the bowling of Brodie Couch. He tried to shoot straight, but the ball could not travel much distance in the air. Laurie Evans, present at mid-on, did not make any mistake and ended Babar’s innings by taking an easy catch. In this way, Babar’s Big Bash debut was very disappointing.

Jack Edwards took over the innings of Sydney
In this match, due to rain, 11-11 over matches were played for both the teams. The condition of Sydney Sixers was bad in the beginning and the team lost four wickets for 41 runs. In such difficult circumstances, Jack Edwards took the responsibility and batted brilliantly. He scored 46 runs in 21 balls and took the team to a respectable score.

Perth’s bowling was impressive
Brodie Couch was the most successful in bowling for Perth Scorchers, taking two wickets. Apart from this, Laurie Evans and Joel Paris also took one wicket each. Sydney Sixers scored 113 runs in 11 overs, which was considered a fightable score in the rain-affected match.
