Babar Azam sends special message to R Ashwin after he retires from international cricket
Babar Azam took to social media to wish the Indian veteran cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin, who took retirement from international cricket after the third Test between India and Australia at the Gabba in Brisbane.
The 38-year-old spoke about his decision in front of captain Rohit Sharma in the press conference. Since then, tributes have been pouring in for the legendary bowler, with Babar Azam being the latest player to hail Ashwin.
“Congratulations on an incredible career @rashwin99,” he wrote on his Instagram stories.
In 106 Tests, he took 537 wickets, including 37 five-fer. The right-arm spinner picked up 228 scalps in 181 white-ball matches across both formats for the Men in Blue.
Meanwhile, Babar Azam scored 73 runs off 95 balls in the second ODI against South Africa. He shared a 115-run partnership with Mohammad Rizwan for the third wicket, with the skipper amassing 80 off 82. Kamran Ghulam’s 63 off 32 took the total to 329.
Shaheen Shah Afridi (4 wickets) and Naseem Shah (3 wickets) restricted the Proteas to 248, leading their team to an 81-run win.
