Babar’s cross to the seventh sky: Got excited on hearing Kohli’s name

Karachi, 9 April 2026: It seems as if time is running out for Babar Azam, who is considered the ‘poster boy’ of Pakistan cricket. Even though his team wins on the field, comparisons with Virat Kohli off the field have now given Babar sleepless nights. Recently, when Virat Kohli’s name was mentioned in a press conference during PSL 2026, Babar Azam got angry in public and vented his anger on the journalist.

On April 8, in PSL-2026, a match was played between Peshawar Zalmi and Hyderabad Kingsmen. When Captain Babar Azam came to the press conference after the victory of Peshawar, he had to face a question which has been troubling him for years. A journalist asked the question, “When Virat Kohli enters the field, he returns after finishing the match, but today you could not do that. If people compare you with Virat, then what do you have to say on this matter?”

Babar Azam got excited after hearing the name of Virat Kohli. Also, instead of giving a direct answer to the journalist’s question, he asked, “Just end this comparison! Leave aside the intention with which you are asking this question. I have finished many matches. If you feel that I have not finished the match, then you should look at the statistics.” The embarrassment on Babar’s face was clearly visible as he was now fed up with this ‘Sarkhamani war’ with Kohli.

In fact, while chasing the target of 146 runs against Hyderabad Kingsmen, Babar Azam scored 43 runs in 37 balls. Babar had come in the opening and the fans were hopeful that he would remain steadfast and lead the team to victory. However, in the 15th over when the team’s score was 116 runs, Babar was out. On the other hand, during the Indian IPL, Virat Kohli is also leading the team to victory by lasting till the end in many matches as an opening batsman. Due to this difference, questions were once again raised in the Pakistani media on Babar’s ability.
