Rennes was on close watch for Irfan Can Kahveci
Several rumors pretended that French club Rennes, which is a prominent part of France Ligue 1 closely scouting the Turkish national star for his potential transfer, Turkish media reported.
In a recent report by Turkish news outlet takvim.com.tr, Rennes reportedly contacted the 29-year-old player’s agent in an attempt to secure a contract with him in January for the end of the season.
Meanwhile, another Turkish news outlet, sozcu.com.tr, claimed that Kahveci had also drawn interest from French club Marseille and Spanish sides Villarreal and Real Betis in October.
However, Fenerbahçe’s head coach, Jose Mourinho, instructed the club to keep hold of the Turkish midfielder.
1.80-meter-tall (5’11”) Turkish national right winger played in 12 matches in the Turkish Super League this season, contributing to the score with 2 assists.
