took revenge for the previous defeat
Both the players had earlier clashed in the Arctic Open last year, where Vitidsarn had won in straight games, but this time Ayush made a brilliant comeback and leveled the scores. The way he bounced back after losing the first game also proved his mental strength.
This happened after 59 years
Ayush Shetty has become the second men’s singles player from India to reach the final of this prestigious tournament. However, this has happened for the first time in the last 59 years. Before him, Dinesh Khanna had won the gold medal in 1965. Whereas, in 2018, HS Prannoy had won the bronze medal for India. Ayush is now assured of at least a silver medal, but his eyes will now be on creating another history by winning the gold medal. Ayush has emerged as India’s new sensation in badminton. India’s last medal in this tournament came in 2023, when Satwik and Chirag won the men’s doubles title.

Ayush is in great form
This performance of world number-25 Ayush is no less than a coincidence. He defeated world number four Jonathan Christie 23-21, 21-17 in the quarterfinals. Apart from this, he also defeated strong players like Chin Yu Jen of Chinese Taipei and Li Shifeng of China. Now Ayush Shetty will face the winner of the second semi-final between Chau Tian Chen and Shi Yuqi in the title match.
Performance of other Indian players
The performance of other star players of India in the tournament was disappointing. PV Sindhu was eliminated in the second round, while Lakshya Sen was eliminated from the tournament after losing in the first round.
