Badminton: Sindhu lost in the second round, Trisha-Gayatri also lost
India's Olympian PV Sindhu's journey came to an end in the second round in the China Masters Super 750 badminton tournament. Sindhu faced Singapore player Yeo Jia Min 2-1 in a three-set match. After losing the first set by a one-sided score of 16-21, Sindhu tried to make a comeback by winning the second game by 21-17.
At one point in the deciding game, she was leading 13-9 but Jia Min played aggressively and took advantage of Sindhu's mistakes to win the game 21-23. The match played between the two lasted for one hour and nine minutes. In the women's doubles, the campaign of Anupama Upadhyay and Malvika Bansod ended after losing two consecutive games to the Chinese pair of Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning in the second round. Score 16-21, 11-21. Anupama lost to Japan's Natsuki Nidaira 7-21, 14-21 and Malvika lost to Thailand's Supanida Kathong 9-21, 9-21.
