BAFTA awards see ‘Marty Supreme’ tie record for losses
Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme earned an unfavouring record at 2026’s BAFTA awards: tying the most losses in one night after not being able to get a single win out of 11 nominations.
The film arrived at the BAFTAS with strong nominations and high expectationsm particularly for Timothée Chalamet, who had already been a recepient of major accolades at the Critics Choice and Golden Globes.
Now, the A24 film stands among BAFTA history’s 0-for-11 club, as it failed to secure win in any category just like Women in Love (1969) and Finding Neverland (2004). Notably, both of those films still claimed one Oscar apiece: Glenda Jackson for Best Actress (Women in Love) and Jan A.P. Kaczmarek for Original Score (Finding Neverland).
The result at BAFTA further stands out as Josh is the year’s most nominated person, earning four nods for directing, co-producing, co-writing, and co-editing.
At BAFTA, the sports drama and biographical film Marty Supreme was nominated for best film, director, leading actor (Chalamet), supporting actress (Odessa A’zion), casting, original screenplay, production design, cinematography, costume design, film editing and makeup and hairstyling.
