The baggage handling system at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, the largest and busiest in Malaysia, was temporarily disrupted for over an hour on March 6 after a brief power trip.

In a Facebook post, the airport said the incident had caused delays in baggage delivery for passengers, The Star newspaper reported.

“We expect some delays in baggage delivery while the system is being brought back online. Our teams on the ground, together with airline ground handlers, are working to minimize any inconvenience to passengers,” the post said.

The airport later announced that the baggage handling system had been successfully restored at 8:37 p.m., The Straits Times reported.

It added that operations had returned to normal and thanked passengers for their patience and understanding.

In January, Kuala Lumpur International Airport surpassed Singapore’s Changi to become the most connected airport in Southeast Asia, according to a report by British aviation firm OAG.

However, the airport has faced several operational issues in recent months.

In August last year, a power outage hit Terminal 2 at the airport, disrupting services.

In November, travelers arriving at Terminal 1 were also caught off guard when heavy rain caused a ceiling panel to leak, sending water cascading into the terminal building.
