UP News: An important step has been taken towards improving road connectivity in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh. About 5.400 km long stretch from Bhagwanpur town to Chahalari Ghat bridge located on the highway connecting Bahraich district headquarters to Sitapur will be widened. For this, the state government has sanctioned an amount of Rs 3114.22 lakh. The Public Works Department will soon complete the tender process and start the construction work.

What is the current situation

At present the width of the road from Tikora turn of Bahraich-Sitapur Highway to Gadamar Khurd is 10 meters, but beyond this till Chahalari Ghat bridge the road is only seven meters wide. Due to this disparity in width, there was a problem of traffic jams and accidents every day. People had to face a lot of trouble especially in the movement of heavy vehicles.

Taking this problem seriously, Sureshwar Singh, MLA of Mahsi assembly constituency, had sent a proposal for road widening to the government. The government approved the proposal prepared by the provincial section of the Public Works Department. According to the approval, the work of widening and strengthening of the road will be done from kilometer number 22.800 to 28.200 of the highway.

Junior Engineers of Public Works Department, Pankaj Singh and Vishad Singh said that the construction work will be started as soon as the tender process is completed. Road widening will not only ease traffic but is also expected to reduce accidents.

How many vehicles pass on the highway every day

It is being told that more than 18 thousand small and heavy vehicles pass through this highway every day. This route is very important for districts like Sitapur, Hardoi, Shahjahanpur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Lucknow and Barabanki. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is constantly serious about road safety and better connectivity. Under this, this project has been given the green signal. Road widening will provide great relief to the people and pedestrians of the area.
