Bahraich Violence: Sarfaraz, the main accused in the murder of Ram Gopal Mishra, gets death sentence, nine get life imprisonment
Bahraich. On Thursday, the court has given a big verdict in the communal violence case in Bahraich district of UP. Main culprit Sarfaraz has been sentenced to death. Along with this, 9 other culprits have been sentenced to life imprisonment. Murder of Ram Gopal Mishra took place during the Durga idol immersion procession.

The culprits have been sentenced in the Ram Gopal Murder Case in Bahraich, UP. The main culprit Sarfaraz has been sentenced to death. Whereas, eight convicts were sentenced to life imprisonment. Another convict, Saif Ali, has been sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment. Also a fine of Rs 1 lakh has been imposed. The incident is of October 13, 2024. When Ram Gopal was murdered during Durga idol immersion.
Earlier in the verdict on Wednesday, the court had convicted 10 accused including the main accused Sarfaraz alias Rinku, his father Abdul Hameed, two brothers Faheem and Talib alias Sablu. He was presented in the court on Thursday afternoon. There were strict security arrangements during this period. There was hustle and bustle in the court premises since morning regarding the case.
Tension and curiosity in the court all day long
Before the sentencing decision came, a crowd of people gathered in the court premises. Local people, relatives of the deceased and lawyers were constantly monitoring the court proceedings. All eyes remained fixed on the sentence to be pronounced by the court. After the decision, discussions among people intensified.

Ram Gopal Murder Case is about to complete 14 months. This is the same incident which had engulfed the entire district in the fire of violence on the holy festival of Dussehra. PAC was deployed, Rapid Action Force was deployed. DM-SP himself stood firm. Even after this the situation was not under control. Chief Minister Yogi intervened and handed over the responsibility to UP ATS Chief Amitabh Yash, then gradually the situation started becoming normal.
Ram Gopal’s mother Munni Devi breaks down at the mention of October 13. She doesn’t say anything…tears burst from her eyes. She keeps taking her son’s name amidst sobs. Wife Roli Mishra’s eyes are filled with tears waiting for justice. Father Kailash Nath Mishra’s health has been deteriorating since the murder of his son. Father is currently admitted in medical college. There is difficulty in breathing. Elder son Harmilan Mishra is busy taking care of him. After the murder of Ram Gopal, Harmilan is the only support of the family.
These police officers were suspended, departmental inquiry is ongoing
Additional Superintendent of Police DP Tiwari said that on the second day of the incident, Hardi SO Suresh Kumar Verma and Mahsi outpost incharge Shiv Kumar Saroj were suspended. Three days later, action was taken against CO Rupendra Gaur on charges of negligence in security arrangements. The departmental investigation in the matter is now in the final stages. Action may soon be taken against all on charges of inaction and negligence.
