Ban on ticket booking using fake ID! IRCTC caught 3.03 crore fake accounts, 2.70 crore suspended
New Delhi : Indian Railways’ ticket booking system IRCTC has been a serious problem for a long time. During the festival and holiday season, when millions of passengers open the app to book tickets, only two messages appear – waiting list and sold out. The main reason behind this was the millions of active ‘digital ghosts’, i.e. fake user IDs, which were used by bots and touts to grab tickets in seconds. Because of these digital ghosts, it became difficult for real passengers to get tickets.
Railways started identification and verification campaign
Let us tell you that Indian Railways implemented a strong identification system to solve this problem. Under this system, the identity of all the users on IRCTC started being checked. During the campaign, Railways identified 3.03 crore fake IDs and completely deactivated them. This step was not limited to just curbing fake accounts, but also identified 2.70 crore user IDs whose identity was doubtful. These accounts were temporarily suspended. The effect of this campaign was clearly visible. Earlier, where around one lakh new user IDs were created every day, most of them were fake, now their number has come down to only 5 thousand.
Easy and secure ticket booking for genuine passengers
Railways has made the objective of this campaign clear – to make ticket booking transparent and secure. Now every passenger will be able to book tickets only with his verified ID. This step will not only curb bots and touts, but will also make online ticket booking easy and quick for genuine passengers. It is necessary to verify the IRCTC app, otherwise you may face problems while booking tickets.
Railways’ success against digital ghosts
This campaign of Railways has proved to be a strong attack on fake accounts and digital ghosts. This campaign has ensured convenience for genuine passengers and has drastically reduced the activities of touts. Now traveling through IRCTC app has become simple and safe. This step of Indian Railways is an important achievement towards making digital ticketing transparent and trustworthy.
