Band Baaja Baaraat comeback: Ranveer-Anushka rom-com hits theaters on THIS date

New Delhi: Ranveer Singh is set to bring back the magic of his debut film to the big screen once again. The much-loved romantic comedy Band Baaja Baaraat, co-starring Anushka Sharma, is all set to return to theatres this month at a time when the actor is already ruling the box office with his latest blockbuster Dhurandhar.

The re-release aims to introduce the cult love story of two wedding planners to a new generation of moviegoers while also giving fans a chance to relive the film in cinemas.

Film to re-release on January 16

Cinema exhibition company PVR INOX has announced that the 2010 hit Band Baaja Baaraat will be re-released in theatres on January 16. This comes amid what is described as a “box office tsunami” created by Ranveer’s current theatrical release, the action spy thriller Dhurandhar, which has earned over Rs 720 crore in India and become the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025.

PVR Cinemas also promoted the re-release on its Instagram page.  “Ranveer Singh, Anushka Sharma, and a rom-com that never gets old. Band Baaja Baaraat is back on the big screen – catch the fun all over again! #BandBaajaBaaraat re-releasing at PVR INOX on Jan 16!” read the caption on their official handle.

Story, cast and director

Band Baaja Baaraat marked Ranveer Singh’s debut as an actor and featured Anushka Sharma as the female lead. The film followed two ambitious Delhi graduates, Shruti (Anushka) and Bittoo (Ranveer), who start a wedding planning company called Shaadi Mubarak and eventually fall in love as they juggle friendship, trust and business in the chaotic world of Indian weddings.

The romantic comedy was directed by Maneesh Sharma in his first film as a director.  It was a box office success on its original 2010 release and turned Ranveer into an overnight sensation among audiences.

Why PVR INOX is bringing it back

Niharika Bijli, lead strategist at PVR INOX, called Band Baaja Baaraat one of those rare “films that never lose their charm”.  “It remains fun and immensely relatable, no matter when—or with whom—you watch it. Re-releasing the film is our way of celebrating modern storytelling that continues to resonate across generations,” she said.

She added that the film’s “timeless music, sharp humour, and deeply lived-in performances” beautifully capture “the spirit of friendship, love, ambition, and life just as it is,” and expressed excitement about a new generation discovering its magic on the big screen. More details about the show timings are expected soon.
