Bengaluru schools closed on October 23 amid heavy rainfall alert; check details here

New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Bengaluru has expected very heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in Bangalore and other districts of Karnataka tomorrow, October 23. Due to this weather condition, the Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha, declared a school holiday in the city tomorrow.

As per reports, some private schools are conducting online classes due to this unfavourable weather condition. The IMD has predicted more rainfall in the city over the upcoming days.

Along with Bangalore, a yellow alert was also issued till yesterday for a total of 11 districts in the state of Karnataka which include Chikkamagaluru, Belagavi, Uttara Kannada, Hassan, Udupi, Dharwad, Haveri, Gadag, Shivamogga, Kodagu, Chitradurga, Davangere, and Tumakuru. For more updates on the school holiday in Bengaluru and other cities in Karnataka, students and parents are advised to contact the respective school authorities.

Bengaluru schools defy rain holiday order

Despite the government’s order of a holiday due to incessant rains on Monday several private schools conducted classes. The parents of the children found out that the attendance of their children was marked absent who followed the government’s school holiday order in Bengaluru and did not send their children to school, as per reports.

The National Hill View Public School authorities, run by Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar’s trust, told parents there was no holiday, sparking concerns about safety and transportation. Moreover, the Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner has instructed the Deputy Directors of Public Instructions to issue notices to non-compliant schools. A total of 15 schools in Bengaluru South have received notices. The Education Department is also preparing a list of schools in North Bengaluru.
